GWBL - Week 6 - State of the Union (Part 3)

GWBL - Week 6 - State of the Union (Part 3)

3rd Place: (4-2) Joey Num Nums Brain Fart: Lamone:

Ahhhh Lamone. The 2021 annual GWBL draft headache. 3 seasons ago it was Ken’s african honeymoon. 2 seasons ago it was Tieg’s gender reveal. This year it was lamone blacking out and doing shrooms and nearly missing the draft. If it wasn’t for the league’s generosity, he probably would have ended with an auto drafted team. Instead, we held up the draft nearly 40 minutes and he’s currently at 4-2. Regardless of how this season goes, can everyone just make it to the damn draft next year?

Lamone started his draft with Zeke Elliott and Austin Ekeler. I don’t remember if that’s who the auto-draft would have been, but it was close to the value he would have gotten. Zeke started off slow, but he’s back to his workhorse ways. He’s RB2 on the year and has 18 or more touches in 5 of 6 games. Ekeler has also been a stud for Lamone, coming in as RB3 through 6 weeks. While he’s often thought of as a receiving back, Ekeler still has 350+ rushing yards on the season. On pace for just about 1,000 yards on the ground. When you add in the 242 receiving yards through 6 games, you get the full picture and a top 5 RB. He’s also been a TD machine this year, with 7 through 6 games.

While those two have been great, TB12 has been the star of Lamone’s team. He’s QB1 ahead of Patrick Mahomes, but he only cost Lamone a 10th round pick. That is ridiculous ROI and as of now I’d say TB12 is the MVP of fantasy. 31.5 points a game from a 10th round pick. Must be nice. If Lamone makes a run at the title this year, Tom will be a big reason why.

2nd Place: (4-2): FIRE THAT PIGSKIN: Commissioner

My team has been good this year, but it lives and dies with my RBs. Dalvin Cook is a monster but has missed two games. Fortunately I handcuffed him with Mattison and he’s been productive, but that’s a risky game to play. Mixon has been great this year as well and while he’s injury prone, he’s RB8 on the season. James Robinson is an interesting one. I regretted the pick on draft day, but the Jags RB has actually been more productive than Mixon. Hopefully they continue to feed him. I also have Damien Harris who may be the best 4th RB among all teams. He’s got a fumbling problem, but there’s no denying the upside.

At TE I have Mark Andrews, who provided me with the luckiest and most unlikely win of my fantasy career. I think I was down 33 points to Lamone going into a Monday night. Mark Andrews scored 40 points and I won. Absurd luck and justified the draft pick on that week alone.

My QB situation is tenuous at best. It was a strength with Russel Wilson at 1 and Jalen Hurts at 2, but Wilson’s injury has forced Hurts into an every week starter. Not sure how I feel about that, but I don’t feel great. WR1 is a strength with Deandre Hopkins but WR2 has been a problem. If Jaylen Waddle can produce like he did in Week 6 I may be in good shape. My bench is kinda bad but we’ll see how it goes. Hoping I can continue to make a playoff run, but my WRs could hold me back.

1st Place: (4-2): Fresh Prince of Helaire: Robby D

He’s in 1st place and has the most points scored - Robby D’s team is the real deal. His 878 points is 146 per game and 75 more than the 2nd place team. It’s also 200 more than Kev or Frader have scored all season. If Robby D didn’t play in Week 7 Kev/Frader still wouldn’t catch him.

This analysis starts and ends with Derrick Henry. The future hall of famer is easily the best pure RB in football and would be the #1 pick if we re-drafted today. He’s on pace for 2,200 rushing yards and already has 10 TDs. TEN FUCKING TDS IN 6 GAMES. On pace for 28 over 17 games. Unbelievable.

Aside from Henry, Robby D also has Antonio Gibson, Chase Edmonds and Leonard Fournette. Fournette may be a cheat code this year as the Bucs starting RB and Gibson/Edmonds are really good players. He also has Chris Carson, but the injury status is uncertain

Robby D has also found a ton of production from mid to late round WRs. DJ Moore in the (5th round, WR10) and Diontae Johnson (6th round, 15 points per game) slot in as his WR1/WR2. Mike Williams is his flex and if TB12 isn’t the MVP of fantasy, then Mike Williams is. After disappointing his owners for 4 years, Williams has finally broken out. Robby D drafted him in the 14th round (!!!) and he’s averaging 18 points a game. FML. And just for the hell of it, let’s throw in Antonio Brown - a 12th round pick whos averaging 17 points per game.

I take back what I said about Dyl - Robby D is the clear cut favorite for the GWBL this year.
