GW Bush League - Week 9 (Part 2)

GW Bush League - Week 9 (Part 2)

Bud Light n the Dilly Dilly’s: (6-3) wins 151.5 to 113.9

YEAH: Dylan has officially found his starting QB – Tyrod Taylor. Taylor threw for 285 yards and 2 TDs while rushing for another 35 yards and a score on TNF. It was the definition of garbage time and makes me want to puke, but 32 points is 32 points. Tyrod is only QB12 as of this writing, but he’s got an incredible schedule the rest of the way. Just like EAZY-E, Tyrod Taylor's gonna be givin people AIDS with all the ass-raping he’s about to do (that was a stretch). Their remaining schedule goes like this: New Orleans this week then the Chargers, Chiefs, Pats, Colts, Dolphins and Pats to end the fantasy season. What a schedule.

YEAH: Is Christian McCaffrey finally breaking out? For real this time? The 20.9 points he scored in Week 9 just about matched his season high (21.2 in Week 6) – so maybe. The best part is that he finally ran the ball!! After averaging like 2 yards per carry through 8 weeks, he finally found some room on the ground. The 15 carries he had were a season high and the 66 rushing yards were a season high as well. That’s actually more yards rushing than he had in the last 6 games combined…… not a typo. If McCaffrey has truly found his place in the running game he might be worth that third round pick Dyl invested.

YEAH, BUT: The loss of Deshaun Watson killed Will Fuller’s fantasy value, but does it also kill Hopkins’ fantasy value? Judging by this past weekend, it did not. Hopkins scored 17.6 fantasy points on 6 catches for 86 yards and a TD. Yeah, that’s great….BUT, guess how many targets it took him to get there…SIXTEEN!!

Six catches off 16 targets is a terrible success rate and it shows just how bad Tom Savage is. Yes the volume is good, but stuff like this isn’t usually sustainable. It’s definitely possible this will be the best game Hopkins has the rest of the year.

JacksON Jacks-OFF: 2-7 loses 113.9 to 151.5

NO: LeSean McCoy’s girlfriend, WOOF

1a.jpg

McCoy had his worst game of the season this week and scored just 4.9 points on Thursday Night Football against the Bills. That’s actually hilarious because the JETS fucked Kev right in the butt. While they held McCoy to his lowest point total of the year, they allowed Tyrod Taylor to score his best point total of the year. I hate fantasy for you Kev, that is just BRUTAL. As Barstool says……The God Damn Jets.

NO: Michael Crabtree was another top performer who totally let Kev down in Week 9. After scoring 10 points or better in 4 straight games, Crabtree came back down to earth with a 5.5 point output on Sunday night football (3 for 40). Despite the fact that Derek Carr threw for over 300 yards, Crabtree was held to his third lowest yardage output and second lowest catch output of the year. Crabtree still remains a top 10 WR in fantasy, but this one hurts.

FUCK NO: This loss in general was just a FUCK NO. Kev is now tied with Guy and Frader for the worst record in the league. Had he played either of them this week he would have won. That alone sucks. To make matters worse, he squandered so many good performances from his players this week. Adrian Peterson scored 26, Alshon Jeffery scored 23, the Saints D got him 16 and Greg the Leg Zeurlein scored 11. If I had told you just those four players you probably would have thought Kev won. Instead he played the league leading scorer for the week and lost. What a waste. At least he gets a bye vs. my team in Week 10.

THE FOURNETTEUATE FEW: 3-6 loses 121.6 to 131.1

NO: Ken had some bad luck this week, no doubt about it. His 121 points were the 4th highest which means he would have beaten 6 other teams this week. Instead he played our league leading Gurleys and took the L. Instead of being 1 game out of playoff contention with a 4-5 record, he’s 3-6 and only one game ahead of the three-way Gabriel race. Can’t win em all.

NO: Did Mark Ingram just lose his job? I hate to say it, but how can you go back to him after what Kamara did this week? After averaging 5 catches per game over the past 3 weeks, Ingram caught one lonely pass this week. Meanwhile Alvin Kamara caught 6 for 84 yards. After scoring a touchdown in three straight weeks, Ingram was held out of the endzone. Meanwhile Kamara scored two TDs – one by land and one by sea… uh air. Ingram did get 6 more carries than Kamara, but sadly he gained just 9 more rushing yards on those. At the end of the day, all Mark Ingram owners should be worried.

FUCK NO: I have to end with the obvious one – Leonard Fournette. What a brutal, brutal, BRUTAL thing to happen to you on Sunday morning. Your best player and best RB becomes a surprise inactive because he missed some meetings and a team photo. I would understand if Ken was as mad as I was this past week.

Ken ended up starting Alex Collins/Jeremy Maclin in Fournette’s place and got 7.7 and 13.8 points out of them respectively. Let’s just say he had Fournette and started Maclin while sitting Collins……. Do you think Fournette coulda scored 18 points? I do. Ken would have won if Fournette put up 18 or more points. That is just awful and my heart goes out to the Peabs.

INTERVIEW: MIXONS HERE HYDE UR GURLEY: 8-1 wins 131.1 to 121.6

1. In a sentence or two, tell me how you feel about your team…..

Solid squad this year. I think i have the best shot at the title but at the same time I'm a Todd Gurley injury away from a first round playoff loss.

2. Now describe your team in 4 words or less.

Championship material

3. What do you think of Mike Evan’s performance lately? He has 10 points in his last 2 games combined and will miss Week 10. Any concerns?

Yea hasn't looked great but we're talking about a guy who's had one thousand yards every year of his career.  Elite receivers are divas and the squeaky wheel gets the grease so I'm sure he'll figure it out. Plus, I'll probably lose for saying this but I'm playing Frader this week so its a good week to be missing my first pick.

(Editor's Note: Keetz has outscored Frader every single week this year.....)

4. Todd Gurley is probably the fantasy MVP for 2017. When you drafted him in the second round did you expect this? Or were you just taking the best RB available?

Everyone will probably call bullshit but I expected it.  Gurley was really good his rookie year and not horrible last year (I think he was still right around a top 10 running back).  Sean McVay is an offensive minded coach and they got a bunch of help at receiver so I figured Goff would be more competent in his second year opening things up more for Gurley.  Plus, the players almanac I pay 20 bucks for every year told me he was going to be good.

5. Pretty much everyone in the league agrees you have the best chance of winning it all. What do you think about that and how are you going to deal with the pressure of a #1 seed?

I've been knocking on the door for a few years and with my luck I'll end up getting 3rd for the 3rd year in a row.  If PURE TAIGE wins this year does the Commish get an honorable mention on the trophy for gifting him Derek Carr and keeping his hopes alive?  Sorry had to say it...

(Editor's Note: In hindsight this trade looks horrible, but Tieg had Deshaun Watson at the time and Aaron Jones was coming off a 28 point game. I didn't think Carr would even start for him and I thought Jones could help my team. WRONG WRONG WRONG. All this being said, if Tieg wins due to Derek Carr I take partial responsibility.)

6. In 2014 you finished as the Gabriel with a 2-11 record. Since then you’ve made the playoffs every year (3 straight including this year) and have a cumulative record of 23-12. What do you attribute to the turn-around?

My first round picks haven't gotten suspended for beating their kids with tree branches...

(Editor's Note: I looked back to the league history and found out that Keetz missed the playoffs in 2012 and finished 5th in 2013 (2014 was his Gabriel season). Definitely been a turn around since the early years.)

7. Are you in any other leagues? If so, how are those going for you?

Fantasy Basketball and a season long pick'em against the spread. Cutting it down to 1 team per sport. Im in the lookout for a good fantasy baseball league.

(Editor's Note: I would be down for fantasy baseball. The season is actually perfect to complement football because it goes from April-August.)

8. Who do you think is the next league member to get engaged?

I'm going to go with a  dark horse here and say Lamone but its also possible that Dylan conceives an illegitimate child on his next bumble date and has a shotgun wedding.  I'm moving in with the ball and chain in March so I'll either be single in 2 years or looking for rings.

(Editor’s Note: That’s 3 votes for Guy, 3 votes for Kev, 2 votes for Keetz, 1 vote for Lamone and 1 vote for Ken. (Cumulative results)

9. You’re a big NBA guy so I’ll throw this in there - what do you think of the Celtics so far this year? We’ve won 9 straight and have the best record in the NBA as of press-time (Tuesday morning).

Top 3 in the east easy. Can't wait to see LeBron and Kyrie go head to head in the eastern conference finals. That game will have better rating than the actual championship. Golden State wins it all of course but what I'm really interested to see is if LiAngelo's arrest and Lonzo's shitty play shuts up LaVar Ball.

10. Any final thoughts you would like to share with the league? The floor is yours…

I love how every year we talk about all the fucked up shit the Gabriel is going to have to do and he never has to do any of it.  This years battle for the Gabriel is shaping up to be the best in league history. I don't think there has ever been a 3 way tie this late in the season. Somebody should start a pool, my money is on Guy.

On a side note, This Ezekiel Elliot shit is getting to be ridiculous. I'm on an emotional roller coaster waiting on these appeals each week. I think this turns out exactly like the TB12's case and he plays the whole season. Shame on all of us for gifting him to Teig in the 3rd round.

(Editor's Note: Agree on Zeke, we fucked that one up. As for the Gabriel - we don't have a Gabriel punishment for a few reasons. First is easy - getting last is punishment enough. The second is because no Gabriel has ever willingly submitted to a punishment. Third is there's no way to enforce it other than kicking someone out of the league - I think we all like the group we have and don't want anyone to leave/be replaced.

Overall I don't have much of an interest in setting up a punishment for the Gabriel. Just seems redundant to punish the person who's already been punished. Of course open to vote though.)
