WEEK 12 RECAPS - PART 2
WEEK 12, PART 2:
Let’s look at the Week 13 matchups and playoff implications for each team. Unfortunately we won’t have the final two interviews this week - Guy is too busy with work and Tieg refuses to do the interview via email. Oh well, there’s always next year. In order of the matchups:
skErtz skErtz w Mahomiez: 7-5
Dyl is currently holding the 5th playoff spot and has clinched a playoff spot overall. The worst that could happen to Dyl is he drops from the 5th seed to the 6th. In order for that to happen, Dyl would have to lose to Robby D and Guy would have to beat Keetz. Lamone and Kev might be able to tie him with a 7-6 record if he loses, but skErtz has 150+ more points than either of them so he’d win on tie breakers.
DalvinCooKens AfricanRhino: 1-11
Robby D’s season has been over for weeks and based on Dylan’s circumstances, this matchup is pointless for him. He had a chance to play spoiler with his final 3 matchups, but his team hasn’t played well the last two weeks. At this point he’s just hoping for a merciful end to the season.
Zeke – a – Tyreek: 7-5
Keetz holds the 3rd seed and if Dylan has clinched, then so has Keetz (ZaT has the 2nd most points in the league). Once again, seeding is the only thing at play here. If Keetz beats Guy and my team should fall then he locks up the #2 seed. However – even if Keetz wins and I lose, there’s a small chance he would not get the 2nd seed. That would happen if Tieg (7-5) wins and scores ~40 more points than Keetz (definitely possible in this economy).
If Keetz loses, he could fall as low as the 5th seed, but I don’t think he’d fall any lower than that. (Tieg and Dyl would both have to win for that to happen.)
Deangelo Vickers: 6-6
Here’s where things get interesting as Guy is the one team that currently holds a playoff spot, but could actually miss out. This matchup is the lynchpin of Week 13’s action. If Guy loses and either Kev or Lamone win, he’s out. Simple as that. However if Guy wins, there are seeding implications:
If Guy beats Keetz wins and Dyl loses, Guy could jump from the 6th seed to the 5th seed if he scores 12 more points than Dyl this week.
If Guy wins and both Dyl/Tieg lose, Guy could jump from 6th to 4th if he scores 50 more points than Tieg (again, possible in this landscape).
Thanos anal snap: 7-5
Like all of our other 7-5 teams, Tieg has clinched a playoff spot. In terms of seeding Taige could end up with anywhere from the 2nd seed, to the 5th seed. He gets the 2nd seed if:
Tieg beats Kev and Commish and Keetz lose.
Tieg beats Kev, Keetz wins, but Tieg scores 50 more points than Keetz
He’s get the 5th seed if:
He loses and Dylan wins.
The GOAT and His Kids: 6-6
Week 13 is pretty simple for Kev – if he loses to Tieg he’s out. Unfortunately for him, even if he wins he may be out. If he wins and Guy wins, he would have to score ~150 more points than Guy to make it in. The only way Kev can make it in is if he wins and Guy loses.
Kens African Safari: 9-3
Nothing to say here, Ken and Co.* have clinched the #1 seed and the $100 payout for best record. Week 13 means nothing for this team.
You Done Messed Up A A Ron!: 4-8
Another quick one here – Frader has been eliminated from the playoffs. He was still in contention up until Week 11, but the loss to Lamone ended his season.
The West Canaan Coyotes: 7-5
As with the other 7-5 teams I’ve clinched playoffs, but seeding is on the line. I’m currently in the 2nd playoff spot, but if I lose I could fall as far as 5th. Keetz, Tieg and Dylan would all have to win for that to happen, which is possible since none of them play each other.
SLAMMY TWATSKiNS: 6-6
Copy/paste what I said for Kev here. If Lamone loses, he’s out. If Lamone wins, he’ll still need Guy and Kev to lose in order to make the playoffs. I guess if Kev wins and Lamone scores 55 more points than him he could still make it – anything is possible.
