Week 6 Recaps - Matchup 2 and Matchup 3
Matchup 2: FLACCOPiAN TUBES wins 130.4 to 127.6:
Start Em: There isn’t much of a debate here, but David Johnson is a must start every week. He’s matchup proof, he’s quarterback proof and he’s 100 proof. He had his second 40 point game in a row this past week and is the #1 leading scorer for RBs. Overall, he’s the second highest scorer in our league. Roll the highlights:
Start Em: I’ve talked about a number of guys who have improved with Tom Brady’s return, but I haven’t mentioned James White yet. Since Tom’s return, he has played more than Legarrette Blount and scored more fantasy points in each week. This past week he went off for two TDs and 24 points. The week before that, he put up 12. Over the last two weeks he has 12 catches for 110 yards, start with confidence.
Sit Em: I hate to do this because I’m playing against Lamone this week, but DeAndre Hopkins is not who we thought they were. Or thought he was, whatever. Through 6 weeks he is averaging just 11.8 points per game which is good for WR #26. He has 2 games with fewer than 8 points and 5 games with 14 or fewer. You’ll probably be starting him if you own him, but he has been a Major Payne this year (another classic movie).
Matchup 2: Can I Diggs It? Yes You Can loses 127.6 to 130.4:
Start Em: Terrelle Pryor converted from QB to WR when he came into the NFL. His career looked like a total bust until he made some splash plays in the preseason and showed up on sleeper lists. He then came out early in the season with a few bad games, scoring just 13 points in the first two weeks combined. Since then, however, he has scored over 75 fantasy points and is 8th in the entire NFL with 59 targets (about 10 per game). Even though the Browns suck, you can start Pryor every week.
Sit Em: Russell Wilson has been pretty disappointing this year, mainly because of injuries. He hurt his MCL and had an ankle injury, and that has resulted in limited rushing numbers. Through 6 weeks, he’s the 23rd ranked quarterback. There are 22 QBs who have more fantasy points than him! Considering he was drafted in the 5th round, you can call him a bust. I’d look for guys with more upside like Andy Dalton, Dak Prescott and Bryan Hoyer (all FAs in our league).
Sit Em: Alshon Jeffery has been another disappointment, ranking as the 29th scoring WR. Through 6 games he has yet to score a touchdown and only has 1 game with 14-plus fantasy points. Bryant Hoyer has been good, but Alshon needs a QB who throws it deep. Hoyer is not that QB. Daaaaa Bears.
Matchup 3: Gurley’s Gone lost 107.9 to 151.9:
Start Em: Christine Michael has really taken over the Seahawks backfield and to be honest, he’s the only player on the Seahawks offense you can start with confidence. He scored 2 TDs this past week and has now scored 10 or better every single week. His matchup this week is kind of tough (Arizona), but in week 8 he plays the Saints. START EM.
Start Em: Spencer Ware is not going anywhere. Where you goin? NOWHEEEREEEE. Even though Jamaal Charles is back, Ware will continue to have a workload and be a FLEX worthy RB. Sadly, Ken did not start him this week. He started Willie Snead instead and lost 24 points because of it. Still, until the Chiefs start leaning on Jamboy, you have to start Ware based on upside.
Sit Em: Jeremy Maclin, woof. When I traded him to Ken I thought Maclin would have a good season. He has not. He’s averaging 8 targets per game, but he’s only caught 23 balls. Basically, he only gets a catch 57% of the time he gets targeted (23/40). It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for em.
Matchup 3: Kens 20 Min Backroad Brisket wins 151.9 to 107.9:
Start Em: I usually don’t give much love to Bengals running backs, but Gio Bernard has become a must-start. He’s scored 14+ each of the last two weeks and has two REALLY favorable matchups the next two weeks (Browns and Redskins, both teams RG3 screwed over). Also, Jeremy Hill has been phased out of this offense. Against the Pats the Bengals ran 3 goal line runs IN A ROW to Gio Bernard. None of them got in, but that’s not the point. The point is that the Bengals are trying to get Gio scores. Flex play all day.
Start Em: I was really hesitant about Andrew Luck this year and did not draft him on any of the 5 teams I have (yes, having 5 teams sucks). I was worried the offensive line wouldn’t hold up and that he’d get injured this year. Luck has exceeded expectations and sits as the #3 scoring QB in our league. A lot of fantasy football depends on game flow and that is something Luck owners don’t have to worry about. He throws the ball A TON. The Colts have attempted 237 pass attempts already this year, second most in the league.
Sit Em: Robby D did sit him this week, but I have to mention it. John Brown has sucked this year. Suck, suck, suck. After being a huge asset for Keetz last year, Brown has had one single game of fantasy relevance this year. In that game, he scored 23.4 points. In the other 5 games he has just 27.7 points (5.5 per). If I were Robby D, I would break my foot off in his JohnBrownHindParts (lamone joke of course).
