WEEK 8 - PART 2

WEEK 8 - PART 2

The Permian Panthers (7-1) defeat The Skid Row Nightcrawlers (2-6): 155.3-127.9

Huge win for my team as I head into a buzz-saw bye week. While a lot of us are feeling the byes, this coming week is especially bad for my squad. In Week 9 I lose Mixon, Gio Bernard, Tyler Boyd, Cooper Kupp and Greg Zeurlein to byes, while Lamar Jackson plays the Pats/is unusable. Always nice to get a W before an automatic loss.

Cooper Kupp was the star of the show in Week 8. He took advantage of the Bryant University Bengals and scored 36.5 points on 220 yards and 2 TDs. I’m sure some of you are still mad about the Kupp-Coleman trade I made with Tieg before the season, but let’s see how the rest of the season plays out before we judge it. Through 8 weeks, Kupp is averaging 19.0 points per game while Coleman is averaging 19.3.

Joe Mixon sighting! Mixon finally showed up with a season high 19.1 points. I really need him to keep that up after his bye if I have any chance of making noise in the playoffs. Unfortunately for me, fellow early-round bust Zach Ertz continued to bust. Ertz had his worst game of the season in Week 8 with a 3 point shart.

The Skid Row Nightcrawlers (2-6) lose to The Permian Panthers (7-1): 127.9-155.3

I’ll keep this short since there’s zero chance Guy reads these. This loss likely ends Guy’s season unless he can pull off 4-5 wins in his last 5 games.

His team was extremely top heavy in Week 8 – Stafford, Mccaffrey and James Conner combined for 91.6 points while the remaining 6 guys combined for 36.3. TY Hilton has been really disappointing the last few weeks after starting off the year on fire. In Weeks 1-3 he averaged 18 points per week. In the other 3 games he’s played he’s averaging 9.5 (and missed Week 4 due to injury). It’s now or never for this team as we head into Week 9.

Tell Sloan I Said What Up (5-3) loses to Daddy’s Little Gurl (6-2): 131.8-152.9

As with Guy this was a tough loss. As with Guy it wasn’t the worst loss of the week…that belongs to Tieg. Still - it sucks when you waste big performances from Dalvin Cook (30), Fournette (21) and Saquon (28).

One positive – Stefon Diggs had another big week (18), his third in a row. After starting the season with scores of 4.7, 9.4, 3, 14.3 and 5.9 points, Diggs has really turned it on the last three weeks. In his last three games he’s totaled 80 fantasy points on 21 catches for 450 yards and 3 TDs. He’s scored no fewer than 17 in any of those games. He’s a top 10 WR right now, which was a laughable thought after Week 5.

On the other hand – Brandin Cooks is dead. Cuncel. Cooks has had a really poor 2019 and put up a season low 0 points this week. Cooper Kupp had 220 more receiving yards than him against the Bengals. You know how I criticized Robby D for starting Marquez Valdez Scantling because he’s WR39 on the year? Cooks is WR40. And he’s injured. And on a bye. While it would be somewhat surprising, I wouldn’t be SHOCKED if Dylan dropped Cooks this week.

Daddy’s Little Gurl (6-2) defeats Tell Sloan I Said What Up (5-3): 152.9-131.8

Huge win for Ken behind Aaron Jones 42.7 fantasy points. Jones has been a revelation this year and is RB3 on the season. He now has separate weeks with 30, 42 and 52 fantasy points. The crazy part is he didn’t do this on the ground – he had just 13 carries for 67 yards in Week 8. It was his outlandish receiving numbers that did the job – 7 for 159 and 2 TDs. Jones now leads the NFL with 11 total TDs.

That’s enough about Ken’s team, now on the Ken’s interview:

Commish: Kenny Peabs, how’s it going? How has the first month of being a dad gone?

Ken: Nothing I could have done would have prepared me for taking a beautiful baby girl home. It’s great, tiring, rewarding, and crazy all packaged together. Wouldn’t have it any other way but will not be popping out a second until I’m expert level Dad - how Bob D does 3 kids is mind boggling to me at the moment. Props to Daddy D.

Commish: Any advice for the future fathers of the league?

Ken: I’ll save you from this one - so many people will give you advice. My advice is don’t listen to 95% of it cause everyoneeee has their opinion.

Commish: How is fantasy going this year - this league and others?

Ken: Middle of the road in the others - got Dak in all 3 leagues but try my best to mix up my teams. I’m more invested in this league from a time and moola standpoint. I’m commish in a league in NH for the past 3 years and there’s 4 old guys that don’t like league progress and changes. Old people suck and are set in their ways. Thanks for giving me a forum to rant.

Commish: Are you looking to make any trades? Anyone on the block?

Ken: I would say anyone except Aaron #2. Guys a stud in a loaded packers offense and prob my best draft pick hands down. Tyreek and Gurley on the block for everyone but Tieg - I won’t trade with him this year so you can breathe a sigh of relief.

Commish: Give us a prediction for your team the rest of the way...

Ken: I hope Gurley puts up a little bit better numbers and then I see him, Aaron #2, Tyreek, Thielen, and Dak as a solid core. One of those guys gets injured and it all falls apart. Since I said that it will likely happen and I won’t be taking home the silver plate.
