Week 10 - PART 2
GWBL - WEEK 10 - PART 2
And we’re back for Part 2 - let’s check in on the remaining 5 teams.
Tell Sloan I Said Whatup (5-5):
It’s been a rough go for Dyl the last few weeks and he’s now lost 3 straight. At one point he was 5-2 and at the top of the league standings, but now he’s at 5-5 and firmly stuck in the middle. While he’s still on pace for a playoff appearance, he’s gonna need to turn it around if he wants to stay in contention. Fortunately he holds his own fate in his hands: two of his last 3 matchups come against Keetz (6-4) and Lamone (4-6). Only 1 game separates him from each off those teams and those matchups will be critical.
I debated whether or not Alvin Kamara was a bust, so it’s only fair to wonder whether Saquon Barkley is a bust as well. Saquon is RB17 on the year and averages 18.1 points per game. That doesn’t tell the whole story though - he’s also missed 3 games with injury and got hurt again in Week 10. Dylan lost his Week 10 matchup by 1.2 points. Saquon scored 8.1 points and rushed 13 times for 1 yard. I’d blame him 100% for that loss and at this point in time it’s kind of hard to argue that he hasn’t been a bust.
Butt Kicker Dot Com (6-4):
Keetz was a tough luck loser this week, falling to Daddy’s Little Gurl by a score of 150-162. As you can imagine he was the highest scoring team to lose. Bad beat there, not much you can do about it. Regardless of the loss, he’s all but clinched a playoff spot. As long as he wins 1 of his last 3 he’s in and only 1 of his last 3 opponents has a record over .500 (in fairness, the other two opponents do have .500 records). Better to get your points against out of the way now rather than in December.
A couple of player notes: Ronald Jones seems to have broken out and put up a season high 20.8 points this week. Keetz added Jones as a free agent for $21 back in September and he’s finally seeing dividends from that investment. Golden Tate was another good FA pickup by Keetz - he’s scored 10 or more points in each of his last 5 games with 2 games over 21. Last but not least - Josh Jacobs is on fire. The rookie has averaged nearly 25 points per game over his last 5 games.
Return of the Mack (7-3):
Frader is the hottest team in the league right now and has won 3 straight games and 5 of his last 6. In those 5 wins he’s averaging more than 136 points per week. His team has been good, but I’ll say it…. he’s been lucky as hell. Over the past 3 weeks he’s won games by 8.8 points, 1.4 points and 1.2 points. Wins are wins and he’s earned them, but three wins by a combined 11.4 points is lucky no matter how you slice it.
I do want to mention his WR duo of DJ Moore and Tyler Lockett. I was a little skeptical of his WRs at the beginning of the year as neither had really had a breakout season to date. I thought he was putting a lot of faith in somewhat unproven players and while the talent was there, the risk was as well. I’m man enough to admit that I was wrong and Frader has 2 very good WRs in Lockett/Moore. Lockett has been on fire and is WR4 in fantasy. He has 62 catches for 800 yards and 6 TDs. Moore has also been productive lately and is WR20 on the year. Over the last two weeks he’s combined for 16 catches and 221 yards.
Daddy’s Little Gurl (7-3):
Ken currently holds the #2 seed in our standings with a narrow 3 point lead over Frader in total points for. While he hasn’t won 3 in a row like Frader has, he’s won 6 of his last 7 games which is impressive to say the least. He put up a league high 161 in Week 10 and he’s primed to get a first round playoff bye for the 2nd year in a row. While he’s 1 game back of my squad and has the same record as Frader, his schedule the rest of the way is pretty favorable. The combined record of his final 3 opponents is 8-22 so there’s a good chance he earns a bye.
Some player notes: Aaron Jones continues to be one of the most valuable players in fantasy and had another big game in Week 10. He put up 3 TDs against the Panthers in what was his 4th multi-touchdown game of the season. Multiple touchdowns in 4 of 9 games… must be nice. Tyreek Hill also had a big week, with 30 points on 11 catches for 157 yards and a TD. Despite missing 4 games, he’s still on pace for around 1,000 yards receiving. The final note is that Ken won this week despite starting a player that was inactive for his team’s game. Ken didn’t have service and started LeSean McCoy as his RB2. Sometimes those mistakes cost you and sometimes they dont.
The Permian Panthers (8-2):
After a brutal 1.4 point loss to Frader in Week 9, my team rebounded with a win over Kev in Week 9. It was definitely a little lucky as I made some poor start-sit decisions: I sat Joe Mixon in favor of Devin Singletary and sat Tyler Boyd in favor of Emmanuel Sanders. Those two missteps cost me about 25 points, but I still got the W. Lucky that I got away with those, but I’ll take it. Speaking of bad decisions, in Week 9 I sat Zach Ertz for Hunter Henry. That cost me about 14 points and I lost to Frader by 1.4. I’ll need to get back on track mentally if I want to make a run in the playoffs.
