WEEK 1 RECAPS - PART 2

WEEK 1 RECAPS - PART 2

MATCHUP 4: Butt Kicker Dot Com defeats Daddy’s Little Gurl 154.7 to 107.2

Finally got something right in my draft recaps – another good season from Keetz is underway. Butt Kicker put up the 2nd highest points in Week 1 behind strong performances from DeAndre Hopkins, Mark Ingram, Josh Jacobs and Delanie Walker. Hopkins led the way with 29.1 points on 8-111 and 2 TDs. He has to play Jalen Ramsay in Week 2, but I expect he’ll put up good numbers again.

The mid-round RBs are where Keetz really made his money – Mark Ingram and Josh Jacobs combined for 57 fantasy points this week. Both had over 100 yards rushing and both scored 2 TDs, proving that waiting on RBs CAN work in this league. I got 16 points from the 10th and 11th picks in our draft – Mixon and Chubb. Meanwhile Keetz gets nearly 60 points from two guys picked in the 4th round or later. Only in America as they say. Keetz also got 20 points from Delanie Walker which is huge considering Ertz, Kelce and Kittle COMBINED for 29.

Kenny had an up and down week. He showed huge balls by benching Aaron Rodgers on Thursday night and was rewarded – Rodgers scored 15 while DAK scored over 40. Great call by Ken and he got to enjoy that for a few days leading up to Sunday. Sadly for him not much else worked out this week.

Todd Gurley had a good game but was vultured TWICE by his backup RB. I don’t think that’ll happen every week, but it’s gotta be frustrating. His RB2 Aaron Jones fared even worse as he managed just 7 points against the Bears D. In the FLEX spot Ken started Mike Williams and was rewarded with 3.9 points even though Phillip Rivers threw for 330 yards.

I’ll end it with the worst beat of all – Tyreek Hill’s injury. Losing your first round pick in Week 1 is BRUTAL and I feel for you Ken. Watching Sammy Watkins put up 200 yards and 3 TDs while Hill was injured and scored 3.3 points is flat out cruel. Especially if Hill was your first pick and Sammy Watkins was randomly started by the guy you are playing….. OH WAIT. That happened to me in my other league that Lamone and Robby D are in. I actually played against Sammy Watkins in 2 of the 5 leagues I play in. AWESOMEEEEE. Okay back to Ken – this just sucks and Ken will be without Hill for 2 months. The worst part is Mike Williams also got hurt and Thielen will be useless since the Vikings only want to throw the ball 10 times a game. Rough start to the year for Peabs.

MATCHUP 5: THE PERMIAN PANTHERS DEFEAT MAKE KAMARACA GREAT AGAIN 119.9 to 113.1:

What a roller coaster for Kev the last 5 days or so. First he loses Antonio Brown because Antonio Brown lost his mind. Then AB is back, he’s going to play Sunday. Then he’s released…. And signed by the Pats. Kev must have been ecstatic…..for 2 days until he was charged with rape. Ay yay yay - as Michael Scott once said:

Aside from that Kev suffered a pretty brutal loss. While it wasn’t the closest loss (RIP LUMA), it was still fewer than 7 points which is such a slim margin in our league. He had to start Kenyan Drake against the Ravens which resulted in 4.5 points. No matter how crazy AB is I think he would have exceeded that. Mike Evans was sick this weekend so he didn’t play well and only scored 3.8 points. How do you get sick the first week of September when you’re an NFL player? Who knows.

The real bad beat came down to Monday Night Football. Kev was down 119.9-88.1. He needed 32 points from Alvin Kamara and Kaimi Fairbairn and he gets the win. Kamara played well and got 23 points, but that was without scoring a TD. Kamara only failed to score a TD in 6 of 16 games last year and Kev had to sit idly by as both Latavius Murray and Taysom Hill scored short TDs. Kamara also had 97 rushing yards which left him just shy of the bonus. The worst part was Fairbairn – he didn’t attempt a field goal and only scored 2 points on 4 XPs. There were only 2 games last year where Fairbairn didn’t attempt a FG. Between this and Kamara I’d say Kev’s bad luck is still going strong.

Kev - probably

Kev - probably

I was the beneficiary of Kev’s misfortune – hand up this win was lucky as fuck. Not only did the Kamara/Fairbairn thing happen, but Lamar Jackson outscored Patrick Mahomes for me this week. Yes I made a great decision by starting Jackson over Cam Newton (humblebrag), but the fact it worked out so well was pure taige.

It wasn’t all sunshine and roses though – both of my first 2 picks sucked. Chubb ran the ball well, but wasn’t involved in the passing game and was vultured for a TD by his backup RB who is known as a pass-catcher. Riddle me that one. Mixon was even worse – 3.9 points before going down with an ankle injury. The worst part is he might play through it in Week 2 which means he’ll be less than 100%. Can’t wait to have to decide who to start – a banged up Mixon or a healthy Gio Bernard! Regardless I’m just going to enjoy my lucky W and call it a day. See you all in Week 2.
