2020 - Week 1 Observations (Part 2)

LOSER #1: TC Williams Titans: 148-152:

I won’t complain about my losing score, but I will complain about injury luck. I lost my 2nd and 3rd round picks to injury before Week 1’s games kicked off. What a kick in the nuts, followed by a supreme kick in the nuts. Pretty sure those two starters would have made up the 4 point difference, but it is what it is. Noone cares, moving on.

LOSER #2: Return of the Mack: 100.1 - 101.55:

Here we have our closest loss of the week, just 1.45 points. Brutal. The main observation here is how bad Mike Evans and Odell Beckham were this week. Frader’s 2nd and 4th round picks combined for just 10.4 fantasy points on 4 catches for 24 yards and a TD. Evans was hurt and Beckham had a bad matchup, but Frader’s gotta be concerned with this start. (If he had started Marquise Brown over either player he would have won.)

LOSER #3: Slight Brees: 104.7 - 112.4:

Another dud of a performance and Tieg has picked up right where he left off in 2019. The low hanging fruit here is how the Vikings defense got him NEGATIVE 7 points. If Tieg had simply not started a defense, he would have lost by just .7 points. However, if he had started just about any other defense in the entire NFL he would have won. Think I’m kidding? I’m not. 28 of 32 defenses scored 1 or more points. The only teams to score less than 1 were the Browns (0), Panthers (0), Falcons (-1) and the Vikings. EEK.

Loser #4: FORESKIN FONDUEL 121.25-128.3:

My observation for Lamone’s Week 1 loss is his QB carousel. He drafted Tannehill and Tua as his QBs, but quickly dropped Tua for Kirk Cousins. Then prior to Week 1, he dropped Cousins for Jared Goff and Tannehill for Teddy Bridgewater. In Week 1 he started Goff over Bridgewater. Here are the score of those players in Week 1:

  • Goff: 13.55

  • Bridgewater: 22.7

  • Cousins: 25.65

  • Tannehill: 23.55

Long story short - starting Goff pretty much cost Lamone his Week 1 matchup.

Loser #5: COVID Dak-Cine: 126.35-140:

Tough week for Ken here as he ran into the Rodgers-Adams stack saw. Not all is lost though, so we’ll end this Week’s writeups on a positive note. With Marlon Mack hurt, Jonathan Taylor becomes a must start RB and a top 10 option at the position. I would take him over all RBs not named Zeke/Saquon/CMC/Cook and Kamara if we redrafted today. While I lost Marlon Mack in three damn leagues, Ken hit the lottery with his Jonathan Taylor pick.
