2020 - Week 1 Observations (Part 1)
Winner #1: WatsOn Those Gurley Fries: 152.9 to 148.45:
To say Kev earned this win would be an understatement. He got the highest score of any team in Week 1 and and officially ripped out my soul in the process. You can keep the $10 bills, but feel free to throw my soul in the trash. It’s done, this league has officially defeated me. Fuck everything.
Anyways my biggest observation is the QB battle that could be brewing on Kev’s roster. While Deshaun Watson put up a healthy 24 points, Cam Newton put up 31.5 on Kev’s bench. If the Texans are as bad as some people think they are Cam may take the job away from Deshaun.
Winner #2: Vote for Creepy Sniffin Joe: 101.55 to 100.1
This game is all you need to perfectly illustrate how fucking unlucky I am. Dyl put up 101 points and won his matchup. I nearly outscored him by 50 points and he wins, I lose. GTFOH Ari Gold style. Alright no more whining, what’s done is done.
My #1 observation for Dylan’s team is the lack of production from his RBs. Nick Chubb and Jordan Howard combined for 15.4 points and his bench didn’t fare much better - 22.4 combined points between Fournette, Latavius and Mattison. I noted this could be an issue in his writeup and while he got the (lucky) win, this is still very much an issue for his team. Chubb will put up 40 in Week 2 when Dyl beats me, but his RB2 spot is a problem. (Last one.)
Winner #3: Rolling With Mahomies: 112.4-104.7
The first thing that sticks out to me here is how top heavy DMO’s team is. His first three picks - McCaffrey/Mahomes/Kelce put up 70 points, while the remaining 6 players on his team totaled 42 points. DMO has some good options on the bench like Deebo, Phillip Lindsay, John Brown and Jamison Crowder, so hopefully he can find some production in there to supplement his Big 3.
Winner #4: Fresh Prince of Bhel-aire: 128.3-121.25
Robby D’s win was probably the most interesting this week, so I’ll just rattle off a few observations.
If Clyde EH gets this workload all year long he may be the fantasy MVP. Wow what a start.
LeVeon Bell is a BUM. Honestly if Robby D dropped him I wouldn’t even consider picking him up.
Somehow Robby D survived the Michael Thomas let down and still won. #onlyRobbyD
Raheem Mostert is a monster. He’ll firmly slot into the RB2 spot for Week 2.
Lot to unravel here, good win by Robby D.
Winner #5: Rugg and Tug: 140-126.35:
Holy shit how about that Aaron Rodgers-Davante Adams stack? Something you dream up in DFS. The Packers QB-WR combo combined for 74.4 points this week. 74.4! That’s more than Mahomes/Kelce/McCaffrey had combined, see DMO’s observations above ^^. Rodgers may be the steal of the draft at QB in the 9th round.
